By Devon Barker

Wednesday, May 14th, brought exciting paddle times to Meadows Valley Elementary students in New Meadows, Idaho. Brent LaFay and Devon Barker brought Dare to Kayak to thirty students. The students paddled in the local hot spring, Zims, where they learned how to wet exit, the forward and backstrokes, how to turn, spin, and use a spray skirt safely.

The students would like to thank everyone who made it possible for them to spend the day in whitewater kayaks. A big thanks to Gary, Troy, and Tyler Wilson, Jackson Kayak Ambassadors, who joined us for the day, Northwest River Supplies for all of the paddling gear, Werner paddles, Backwoods Adventures from McCall, Pro-tec Helmets, and Al Dixon, owner of Zims Hot Springs for making this Dare to Kayak paddle day possible.

Dare to Kayak encourages students to get active and take up a sport like kayaking as a way to stay away from drug and alcohol abuse.

Many thanks from the 3rd and 6th grade Classes!
Ms. Devon
