Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive

Dear paddling friends, english will follow.

Mes amis kayakistes,

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive!

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive!

One year ago, I realized I could not continue directing the (Montreal Eau Vive www.mtleauive.com) organization. After 6 editions, it is time for me to move on. Although organizing MEV was very demanding, it also brought me a lot of energy and pride.

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive!

Every year, I have tried to create teams and support them the best I could. I am extremely grateful to all who volunteered and attended the event. Thank you all for your love and support!

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive!

I am proud of the goals I’ve achieved :
– Help the world re-discover the incredible whitewater playground of The Lachine rapids of the Saint Lawrence river. I intend to continue doing so, but differently.
– Grow the community of kayakers regularly present at The Lachines. I intend to continue doing so, but differently.
– Build a resilient team around the event that is capable of taking over MEV and make it evolve.

Goodbye Montreal Eau Vive!

Indeed, I now pass the torch to Frédéric Gendron and his team. Fred is the perfect guy for the job. He’s a passionate and accomplished paddler that get things done well. The success of the (Slalom Sept Soeurs https://slalom7soeurs.com/) (S7S) on the Rouge river testifies to it, his team is solid. Besides, no one else than him is crazy enough to take over such a silly idea of an event!

Thank you Ian Vogel, Sébastien Clermont and Jessica Droujko for inviting me to join the team. Thanks also to the board of the club de Canoe-kayak d’eau vive de Montréal (CCKEVM) for their trust, for believing in the project and for supporting it. Thanks to all the volunteers from our strong community, this event would not be possible without your involvement. Thanks to all the paddlers who showed up and gave meaning to this nonsense!

Finally thanks to the sponsors and partners who have made MEV possible : Eau Vive Quebec, KSF, Montreal Jetboating, Base Camp, Jackson Kayak, Kayak Junky, the city of Montreal, the government of Quebec, the LaSalle borough, Astral, Predator Helmets, Kayak Session magasine, Vice, Paddle Canada CKC, Mountain equipment coop, BMO Bank of Montreal and the Dieu du Ciel brewery.

I am not giving up kayaking, on the contrary. I wish now to invest my time in other important things : my family, my job, getting local kids into paddling, my house, travels, etc.

I wish the best of luck to Frédéric and our team, I won’t be very far!

These (video projects https://vimeo.com/user9627190) will forever stay close to my heart! Especially these :

See you on the water
