NORTHEAST TENNESSEE’S OUTDOOR SHOWCASE

https://www.mtmfest.com/

Mission: To enrich the region’s quality of life, health, and wellbeing by increasing awareness and use of our outdoor recreation resources.

About: This free festival serves as an annual coming together of Northeast Tennessee‘s outdoor recreation community. It is a one-stop shop to experience all of our region’s outdoor opportunities. By increasing awareness of our natural assets and encouraging residents to live healthy lifestyles, the organizers hope this festival increases opportunities for growth of our outdoor recreation economy. The best outcome is enhancing the livability and health of the community overall.

Meet the Mountains Festival went down again on AUGUST 23-24, 2019 with “Basecamp” again at FOUNDERS PARK – 225 Commerce St, Johnson City, TN 37604. The event was another HUGE success for our paddling community in the Water Zone with nice weather! The event grew with more festival goers this year as they enjoyed this free outdoor festival. Over the two days of the festival we put nearly 1,000 kids and a few adults in the USA Raft’s #megademopool to let them experience kayaking and stand up paddle boarding.

Bringing together many of the businesses and organization that make up our local paddling community to showcase our great sport is amazing experience at this event! Meet the Mountains 2019 would have not been as great of a success without all the amazing volunteers from:
Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts – http://www.riverapes.org/
NOLI – Nolichucky Outdoor Learning Institute – https://www.nolilearn.org/
USA Raft & Mountain River Guides – https://www.usaraft.com/
Jackson Kayak

We were rewarded with hundreds of smiles and “Thank you” from the kids to make it all worthwhile!
