Not much water, but tons of Ghosts and Goblins

We’ve lived along the banks of the White Salmon River for over 13 years.  And, it has NEVER FAILED that when the Annual Halloween Paddle would happen, we’d either have just the right amount of water to paddle the Truss (class IV/V) section OR we’d have WAY TOO MUCH water so we’d have to paddle the Farmlands (Class IV) or the Middle Stretch (Class III).

13 years of the same trend . . . this year was different!  It rained prior to the Halloween Paddle on October 27th, but not enough to bring in the section that we love to huck ourselves down in costume.  So, we opted for the Middle White Salmon at 1.5 feet on the Husum Gauge.

We didn’t break the record from last year – with over 50+ paddlers uniting in costume to paddle the 4 different stretches of the White Salmon.  But, we had a great crew of about 30 paddlers in kayaks, rafts and IK’s come out to enjoy a beautiful Fall day and some great company.

We never get enough photos when paddling because we get so busy laughing, floating, talking . . . oh, and no one really like to get out of their boats.  But, here are a few captured from this year!  Enjoy!!!

PS . . . it started raining when we got off the river . . . it has rained over an inch since Saturday afternoon and the Truss is now in!  I guess Mother Nature was just a day behind!

Happy Halloween,

Heather
