This past August, I was invited to be the “guest instructor” at the Ladies on the Lake Sea Kayak Symposium on Lake Superior in Munising, MI.  I don’t have much background in sea kayaking  (not sure I can even say I have ANY), but I was invited to share fitness tips and workout programming, specific to the paddler.

My workshop topics consisted of stretching, mobility and massage techniques and strength and stability training for paddling enthusiasts.  This was a great opportunity to share my passion of health & fitness and to provide the participants with ideas and exercises that will help them continue to paddle for many years to come.

I also had the joy of sharing my trip to Norway/Sweden, in August 2016, at the morning coffee session.  During my trip in Europe, I had the pleasure of touring Norway and Sweden both in a sea kayak and on a stand up paddleboard.  It was neat to share my experience with these ladies and mostly to share the beautiful areas that I visited (because that’s really what it’s all about).

Going into this event, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  I was just the “guest instructor”, showing up and hanging out with some amazing, talented sea kayak instructors and a huge group of enthusiasts who came there to paddle and learn.  I walked away from the event totally blown away by what I experienced, the people I met and the beautiful areas that everyone paddled in.

If you are interested in this event (and you’re a woman), please visit the following link.  This is a great opportunity to learn and meet a great group of gals.    Plus, the party night is “RAD”!
